The Registry department, Bells University of Technology, on Wednesday held the eighth edition of its annual lecture themed, ‘Foundational Strategies for Establishing Great Universities: The UNIOSUN Example’. The lecture was delivered by no less a person than His Excellency Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, the former executive governor of Osun State. A big fish indeed and the right authority on the subject of discourse, being the sitting governor that conceived and established the Osun State University. Venue was the BUPF International Conference Centre.
The welcome address was delivered by the Registrar and Host, Mr. Lamidi Tafa as he affirmed the genuine pleasure and appreciation to the Guest Lecturer for coming personally to deliver this year’s lecture. He also gave kudos to the Vice-Chancellor and the Management of Bellstech for the solid support which made this year’s lecture such a huge success. He reiterated the resolve of the Registry department to always strive for the betterment of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jeremiah O. Ojediran, R.E (COREN) FNSE, FNIAE, also praised and appreciated the Guest Lecturer for coming in person to deliver the lecture. He asserted the need for citadels of learning to tap into the wealth of experience from such seasoned elders and administrators like the guest lecturer.
The Guest Lecturer with his down to earth and often humorous manner took the rapt audience on an experiential journey of the birthing of the now bustling UNIOSUN. He gave insights into qualities that maketh a great University; assembling a solid planning committee, the vision, mission, funding, getting approval, instituting a sustainable funding strategy and getting accreditations. It was a vivid recount of practical actions and a deliberate resolve to succeed that the audience were exposed to.
In all, it was a lecture full of practical wisdom which highlights the importance of determination towards set goals. The entire audience indeed became better and much more enlightened at the end of the day.
