The Bells University Parents Forum (BUPF), Bells University of Technology, on Wednesday, 13th November 2024, held the tenth edition of its annual seminar with the theme, ‘Future-proofing Success: Mastering Soft Skills and Professional Development in a Changing World’.
The Seminar had two guest speakers, Dr. Femi Awoyomi, MBA, Ph.D, FCIB, the Founder, African Young Brains; and Mr. Olawale O. Ajani, FMIC, FPRC, FCGP, FITD, MAOPN, Managing Partner, CERTI Consulting Limited. Venue was the BUPF International Conference Centre.
The welcome address was delivered by the Chairperson Mrs. Adefowoke Ayo-Ponle, ACIS, ACIArb. IN HER SPEECH, THE Chairperson stated that the annual seminar is a key highlight in the university’s calendar.
It provides a platform for knowledge-sharing and discussions on critical issuesto improve our children and make them a total leader, not only in academics but also embracing soft skills that affect their education and well-being positively, she asserted.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jeremiah O. Ojediran, R.E (COREN) FNSE, FNIAE, also praised and appreciated the BUPF for being a partner in progress for Bellstech.
He commended the principles of the yearly seminar as being a veritable tool for the re-orientation of the impressionable young minds. The success story that Bellstech has become cannot be told without the Forum as a key co-builder of the institution.
The two speakers did justice to their chosen topics. Dr. Femi Awoyomi spoke on ‘Essential Soft Skills in the 21st Century VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity) Economy. Mr. Olawale Ajani discussed, Professional Development: Diversity, Future of Work and Automation in the 21st Century.
In all, it was a full double dose of life lessons and preparations for the young adults who were better enlightened on the inter-relationship of academic knowledge and hands on skills acquisition and application.
