BELLSTECH SHINES AT ENGINEERING PROJECT INNOVATION COMPETITION (EPIC)

Students from the College of Engineering have again done Bells University of Technology ( Bellstech) proud by winning at the 2nd edition of the Engineering Project Innovation Competition (EPIC) hosted at Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti. The highly competitive contest held on the 13th of April 2024, provided a platform for teams to showcase their innovative ideas and projects, with a focus on advancing engineering solutions for societal challenges.

Kicking off with an encouraging and insightful address delivered by the Head of Mechatronics Engineering Department at Afe Babalola University, nine teams, representing as many institutions, proceeded to pitch their ideas before a distinguished panel of judges and fellow participants.

Several prestigious institutions participated in the competition, demonstrating a strong commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration within the engineering community. These include; Bells University of Technology, Ota; Covenant University, Ota; PAN Atlantic University, Lagos;  Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (Host); Federal University, Oye-Ekiti.

The two teams from Bells University of Technology presented the following projects:

1. Mavic Vision: – a groundbreaking hardware device designed to assist visually impaired individuals in navigating their surroundings effectively. The innovation garnered significant attention for its potential to enhance accessibility and independence for visually impaired individuals.

2. TICHAR: – which showcased a GPT-based learning aid tailored to facilitate student comprehension of complex concepts. The platform automatically generates questions from lesson materials, aiding students in their learning journey.

Represented in two teams by Bankole Tobiloba, Mechatronics; Anjuwon Ololade, Mechatronics; Adebo Damilola Mechatronics; Temidire Ojiesuwa, Mechatronics; Edah Gabriel, Mechanical Engineering and Chukwu Jubilee, Mechanical Engineering, Bells University of Technology performed admirably. Team “Mavic Vision” secured the 3rd position with a total score of 7.68/10, while Team “TICHAR” with a total score of 6.56/10, secured the 7th position. Overall. The teams from Bells University of Technology came 3rd out of the participating Universities.
